FINANCIAL COMMITMENT

Members are invited to indicate their financial commitment to the congregation’s ministry for 2009.

1] CURRENT AND BENEVOLENCE - The first portion has a double focus: CURRENT supports our ministry here at Shepherd of the Hills; BENEVOLENCE supports our ministry beyond our congregation -- both in assistance to a variety of local causes and through the churchwide work of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. This congregation has always given high priority to the benevolence ministry of the church.

2] BUILDING FUND - Money given to the Building Fund is used the pay the annual church mortgage. Even though our annual payment is $113,364 the Church Council has kept our previous payment of $125,000 as our mortgage goal with any contributions over and above our regular monthly payments being applied to principal reduction on our loan.

Members are encouraged to make their financial commitment on the basis of a percentage of their household income. Each year members are invited to increase their commitment by an additional 1% of their household income, working towards the biblical standard of the tithe [10%].

Simply Giving provides members the opportunity to make their contribution to the church by way of Electronic Fund Transfer. This program involves no cost to the contributor or the congregation.

The Endowment Fund for Benevolence is intended to be a vehicle through which members can leave a legacy to assist in meeting the needs of our community and the world. For information about the Endowment Fund, contact the Church Office.
