COMMITTEES

All confirmed members are invited to serve on any committee.

 


ALL COMMITTEE NIGHT

Committees meet on the third Tuesday of each month, except June, July, and December.
Dinner is at 6:30 PM followed by meetings at 7:00 PM.
The Child & Family committee meets at 5:30 on All Committee Night.

Standing Committees meet at our All Committee Night, Special Committees meet periodically throughout the year. 

 


STANDING COMMITTEES


Child & Family Ministry

Chairperson: Kristie Peterman Council Liaison: Lisa Larson
Promote spiritual development of children [birth-5th grade] and their families in the church, home, and world.

Church Property

Chairperson:  Council Liaison: Glenn Richter
The Property Committee is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of our buildings and grounds. Several times each year members are invited to join them for "work days" at the church.

Finance

Chairperson: Bill Carlisle Council Liaison: Nancy Clark
This committee supervises the drafting of the annual congregational budget, monitors expenditures, keeps a monthly check on cash flow, audits the financial books of the congregation, and recruits and trains people who prepare the offerings for deposit in the bank.

Health & Wellness

Chairperson: Don Cadenhead & Anita Knight Council Liaison: Erika Bacon
This committee seeks to promote an awareness of health issues through adult education classes, blood pressure checks, blood drives, and current literature. They also seek to uplift how the physical, mental, spiritual, emotional, and social aspects of our lives are interconnected.

Social Ministry

Chairperson: Linda Roesle Council Liaison: Jerry Schmeil
A wide variety of outreach programs falls under the umbrella of this committee. Examples of its work assisting those in need include: giving support to local charities, participating in Habitat for Humanity and housing refurbishing projects, "adopting" families at Christmas, and the Breakfast for the Homeless project at First United Methodist Church.

Spiritual Life & Growth

Chairperson: Rebecca Guengerich Council Liaison: Sibylle Hibler
Planning and providing opportunities for the spiritual growth of the adults of the congregation, with a focus on small groups and new members.

Stewardship

Chairperson: Council Liaison: Michael Watt & Bill Dawson
The chief activity of this committee is to plan and lead the annual stewardship program, during which time members make their commitments of their time, talents, and treasure.

Worship & Music

Chairperson: Kim Kernodle Council Liaison: Bril Flint

The committee enhances our worship experience through planning our worship services around the themes of the various liturgical seasons of the church year.


Youth & Family

Chairperson: Emily Franke Council Liaison: Susan Wear

Promote the spiritual development of youth [6th through 12th grade] and their families.



SPECIAL COMMITTEES


Butterfly Christian Preschool Board

Chairperson: Susanna Auby Council Liaison: Joe Calabrese
Begun in 1977, the Butterfly Christian Preschool is an outreach program of our congregation for children 1 through 4 years of age. The school is in session from 9:00 to 12:30 pm Monday through Friday, with separate classes for each age group. Board members are elected by the Church Council from the congregational membership.

Endowment Board

Chairperson: Bill Wiese Council Liaison: Jeri Porter
The Endowment Fund Board meets four times a year to oversee the investments and disbursements of the Endowment Fund for Benevolence. This Board is elected by, and reports to, the Church council with ratification of its election by the congregation.
